Every year, one of the things I most look forward to is the Lunar New Year celebration offered at Disney Calfornia Adventure. I try to go down at least once to see it and, this year, it worked out that I could go down the same time Disney Vacation Club held its Moonlight Magic event at Disneyland. And, at the same time, Mickey was celebrating his 90th birthday with his "Get Your Gears On" celebration! So much going on!
As soon as I got to the Disneyland Resort, I headed over to Paradise Gardens at Disney California Adventure where the Lunar New Year celebration was taking place.
It had been raining hard just earlier, so they ended up cancelling Mulan's Lunar New Year Procession which bummed me out because that is always a highlight for me every year. I did get a chance to meet the characters who had barely any line because of the rain. And, they always bring the sunshine for me!

I caught this really cute moment of Pluto facing off with Mushu for Mulan's attention. I love catching these kind of playful moments.
The food carts were dressed up this year with cool signs...
My favorite food offerings came from the Red Dragon Spice Traders. I had the Steamed Short Rib Shumai and the Rasberry Lychee Chia Ice Tea. Actually, I think the ice tea was my favorite of all. So tasty!

Thankfully, the next day, the sun was shining and Mulan's Lunar New Year Procession was on! I had been dying to see the Three Little Pigs, who were there to celebrate the Year of the Pig, in person!
The Annual Passport Center was super cute this year, but was a little hard find. Its under the Silly Symphony Swings if you haven't found it yet. They had this fun PhotoPass opportunity. I like how they incorporated the AP Lucky Wishing Wall.

Another treat was watching Melody of China perform. Here they are playing "Oh, Susanna" with traditional Chinese instruments.
Despite the rain, the Lunar New Year celebration was a success and it is always nice to see Disney continue to expand the celebration more and more every year. I can't wait for next year!
Mickey also kicked off Get Your Ears On to celebrate his 90th birthday. The characters all received wonderful new outfits to mark the occassion!
In the evening, I also got to see Mickey's Mix Magic. Because of the weather, they didn't do the fireworks. Regardless, I absolutely loved it. I loved the energy of the show and the reaction in the audience was palpable. I left grinning from ear to ear. I always love to hear the reaction that Coco gets.
After Mickey's Mix Magic, I went to get a snack and finally got to see the Tropical Hideaway! I didn't get to photograph my food, but my favorite thing was actually the Ramen Shaker. I love the portability of it and the flavor is great!
Finally, I attended the Disney Vacation Club Moonlight Magic event. I love these events because they bring out characters that are not normally out. And, I got to meet a brand new character - Sally Slater, aka the Tightrope Walker from the Haunted Mansion!

It was a madcap 24 hours and I don't know how I was standing afterward. But, I would definitely do it again! When can we do this again?
