PROFILE: Lin-Manuel Miranda

Since Hamilton just recently started streaming exclusively on Disney+, I thought we'd do this profile on Lin-Manuel Miranda. Miranda is an actor, composer, writer and rapper best known for his smash Broadway musical Hamilton. But, he has also had a large presence with Disney outside of it.

Miranda began his career at Disney in 2012, appearing in The Odd Life Of Timothy Green as Reggie, a botanist friend of Timothy's (CJ Adams) mother Cindy (Jennifer Garner) who they go to to try to explain the leaves growing on Timothy. He then, in 2015, composed and performed with director J.J. Abrams "Jabba Flow," the song being played in Maz Kanata's palace in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The next year in 2016, Miranda co-wrote the songs for Moana along with Mark Mancina and Opetaia Foa'i. He also performed "We Know The Way" from the movie and made an appearance in Jordan Fisher's version of "You're Welcome." In 2017, he started making recurring appearances as Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera (aka Gizmoduck) in DuckTales.

In 2018, Miranda starred in Mary Poppins Returns as Jack, a protege of Bert's who is a friend of Mary Poppins. He performs several songs from the movie, including "(Underneath the) Lovely London Sky," "Trip A Little Light Fantastic," and "A Cover Is Not A Book."

In 2019, he made a very minor appearance as a Resistance Trooper in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. And, of course, in 2020, his Tony, Grammy and Pulitzer Prize winning musical Hamilton was picked up to be distributed by Disney which it did by streaming on Disney+.

Currently, Lin-Manuel Miranda is working on music for the live action The Little Mermaid as well as an upcoming Disney animated film set in Colombia entitled Encanto.
