Mulan 20th Anniversary Exhibit At Gallery Nucleus

On Sunday, I got to visit Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, California where they are hosting an exhibit celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Mulan. Since this is one of my favorite Disney films, I had to go. The exhibit is a collaboration with Disney Fine Art, Cyclops Print Works, and Oh My Disney!
I was bummed because I missed the opening by one night and Ming-Na Wen was there!
Here is a slide show of some of the pieces on display. Such beautiful work!
One of my favorite parts of the exhibit was a mural of concept art.

Catching my eye in the center of it all were four early character comparative size charts. You can see Mushu referred to as just "Dragon" and Shan-Yu still did not have a name. There are also a couple of characters that never made it into the final version or who's names were changed. They're pretty fun. Click on each picture to see larger version.
While the artwork is for sale, there are also a few of pieces available as a print. I bought one myself! It is an adorable piece by Amber Aki Huang.

Gallery Nucleus is located at 210 E. Main Street, Alhambra, CA 91801. If you get a chance to visit, the exhibit is on display until November 4. It's free and quite a treat.
