I Love You. I Know.

As is always with a favorite lists, people always ask why I didn't include this thing or that thing. A lot of it has to do with where my mind is at the moment. They're not meant to be definitive lists. That said, I'm glad to have people talking about my lists and express passion about their own.

Thanks to some feedback from readers, I revisited some additional moments in Disney and Pixar Animated films that I can't believe I didn't think about...a couple of which should have definitely been on the first list.

Today, I am revisiting Star Wars emotional scenes to talk about one pivotal scene that I absolutely agree should have been on my original list.

By the beginning of The Empire Strikes Back, there was a considerable amount of both sexual and emotional tension between Han Solo and Leia Organa. It begins to grow throughout the movie. When Darth Vader captures them and gives Han to Boba Fett to deliver to Jabba the Hutt, there is this sense of desperation that befall our heroes. Before Han is placed in Carbonite for delivery, the two share a kiss before being torn apart. Leia, realizing this might be the last time she sees him, says, "I love you."

Han, not missing any of his trademark swagger in the face of danger, responds, "I know."

This exchange has become the stuff of legend and is often quoted by couples who are Star Wars fans. It even is printed on his and hers t-shirts sold at the Disney Parks.

And the reason why this scene is so beautiful is that it confirms all that we knew along. These two love each other and this gives hope in an otherwise bleak ending to the film.

So, I concede. I was wrong not to have included this in my original list.
