10 Top Guest Star Moments on "The Muppet Show"

During The Muppet Show, which aired from 1976 to 1981, a bevy of celebrities graced the show. We saw the likes of Julie Andrews, Rita Moreno, Harry Belafonte and more. These are 10 of our favorite guest moments on the show. What are yours?

Elton John sings “Crocodile Rock”

What could be any better than Elton John singing "Crocodile Rock" with actual crocodiles...well, Muppet crocodiles at least? John was in full force with his colorful feathered costume accompanied by Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.

Rita Moreno sings "Fever" with Animal

In this scene, Rita Moreno gets increasingly frustrated with Animal who keeps playing loudly over her. One of the funniest moments is when she goes over and starts yelling at him quickly in Spanish. We might not have been able to understand, but we know what she said.

Julie Andrews sings “The Lonely Goatherd”

No matter what Julie Andrews does, she brings the class level up with her wonderful voice and demeanor. She can even make a menagerie of animals singing "The Lonely Goatherd" with her seem absolutely natural.

Star Wars meets “Pigs in Space”

In this scene, the USS Swinetrek is commandeered by Luke Skywalker, C-3PO and R2-D2. The Pigs in Space sketches are hilarious on their own, but it gets stepped up a notch with the visit of Star Wars friends. And, Miss Piggy dressed as Princess Leia is amazing.

Peter Sellars and Kermit in the dressing room

There were so many good moments in the Peter Sellars episode of The Muppet Show, but this was my favorite where Kermit is talking to Sellars in his dressing room. The only thing is Sellars is completely bonkers and hilarious and Kermit makes the perfect straight man in this sketch.

The Swedish Chef And His Uncle Danny Kaye

In this scene, Danny Kaye plays the Swedish Chef's uncle and he is hilarious as they cook a turkey dinner. You almost can't tell who is who!

John Cleese in the Final Song

In this scene, John Cleese gets increasingly frustrated in his finale where Kermit keeps thinking he's going to sing something. He keeps getting it wrong and apologizing, but the madness keeps ensuing and, soon, Cleese is almost off his rocker.

Vincent Price in the House of Horrors

We're so used to Vincent Price being this scary guy, but The Muppet Show allowed him to show off his more comedic side like he did in this "House of Horrors" sequence. Fozzie and Gonzo might have been scared of him, but he left a smile on the audience's face.

Statler and Waldorf heckle Milton Berle

In this scene, Statler and Waldorf heckle the King of Comedy! They certainly hold their own and, while Milton Berle grows tired of them, he can't help but be impressed with some of their zingers.

Harry Belafonte sings "Day-O (Banana Boat Song)"

In this scene, Harry Belafonte sings "Day-O." All the while, Fozzie is trying to collect bananas from Beauregard who keeps bringing him other things like pineapples and shoes. At the end of the song, Belafonte gets increasingly irritated when the Muppets can't keep up with him.
