December 16, 2013 - Watching "Frozen" Again At The El Capitan

Since I was watching Saving Mr. Banks in the evening at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, I decided to spend the day up in Los Angeles.  Of course, I had to stop by the Disney Studio Store & Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop.  And, since I was there, I decided to watch Disney's Frozen at the El Capitan Theatre next door.  Yes, this would be my fifth time watching the film, but, there's just something very special about watching Disney movies at the El Capitan.  First of all, they decorate the lobby and theatre to the theme of the movie.

they have a special pre-show featuring ice carvers...

...and, of course, Anna and Elsa come in to introduce the show.

They also have the wonderful Rob Richards playing the Mighty Wurlitzer before the show on the weekends, but, since this was a Monday, he was unfortunately not there.  But, his performances always ring back the classic days of Hollywood when going to the movies was an event rather than just to watch a movie.

But, the big reason why I love watching movies at the El Capitan, especially in 3D, is that there is a crispness to the print that just makes the viewing even more pleasurable.  I have watched 3D at your everyday cineplex and, sometimes, the 3D can often be off sync.  Many people complain about getting headaches from watching 3D and I can understand why at a regular cineplex.  But, at the El Capitan, the picture is just so beautiful.  If you ever get a chance to watch a movie at the El Capitan, I highly recommend doing it.  Yes, it's more pricey, but, you really do get a fantastic experience.
