November 23, 2013 - Downtown Disney's Winter Village and Olaf's Frozen Ice Rink

After a dreary day at Disneyland the day before, the sun was a welcome sight!  Sadly, I had a very reduced day because I was attending my cousin's birthday party in the afternoon and had some other errands to run as well.  But, I was going to make the most of this beautiful day.

I started off in Downtown Disney to check out the Winter Village and Olaf's Frozen Ice Rink.

For the last couple of years, they've tried to do a Winter Village and, last year, in celebration of Tinker Bell & The Secret of the Wings, they added an ice skating rink.  But, it's always looked kind of cheap.  But, this year, they did a really nice job.

The centerpiece of the Winter Village is the Frozen themed Ice Skating Rink - Olaf's Frozen Ice Rink.  There is even a little statue of Olaf watching the skaters enjoy themselves.

I love the way they put the Christmas Tree in the middle of the rink.  It adds to the area feeling less like an afterthought and more like an actual Winter Village.  And, after the Christmas Tree's absence last year, it is nice to see it back in Downtown Disney.

Surrounding the rink are a bunch of chalets/kiosks selling different kinds of goodies and merchandise.

It's a nice little addition to Downtown Disney and definitely feels much more festive than it has in years past.  I almost regret not having enough time to actually go ice skating...then, I remembered I have bad knees! :)
