November 10, 2013 - Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade taping at Disneyland

I happened to be in Southern California when they were taping the Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade at Disneyland.  I've gone to see the taping for the last several years as they always add or switch up the characters in the parade.

The taping began with some balloons and flags making their way down the street.

Sadly, I didn't get a great spot on Main Street that morning.  I've usually been able to be close enough to see the host and some of the musical acts which are taped closer to Town Square.  I was sitting closer to Central Plaza.  But, still, it was a fun time.  Next, there was a Monsters University contingent with some kids dressed up in Monsters University costumes!

Next up, the Toy Story contingent, made up of floats from both A Christmas Fantasy Parade and the Pixar Play Parade...

Afterwards, Mater, Red, DJ and Lightning McQueen drove over from Cars Land at Disney California Adventure to celebrate...

And, then, came our A Christmas Fantasy Parade opening float followed by the much loved Toy Soldiers...

They were immediately followed by Mrs. Claus's float.  Joining her on the float for the Christmas Day Parade were Peter Pan and Wendy Darling...along with her armada of elves...

And, then, Flora, Fauna and Merryweather led the Disney Princess contingent...

They were followed by the lords and ladies in waiting...

It's always exciting to see who might be on the Princess float for the Christmas Day Parade because they usually include the Princes since, at Disneyland, we rarely get to see them out.  This year, Aladdin (as Prince Ali) with Jasmine, Ariel and Eric and Aurora and Phillip...

Next up was the Princess and the Frog contingent...

It's always nice to see both Tiana and Naveen together...

And, of course, we all love Louis...

Following them were Mary Poppins and Bert on their horses followed by the Penguins and their float from Mickey's Soundsational Parade...

...and, just when we thought we had seen all the Princesses that were going to appear in the Disneyland portion of the Christmas Day Parade, out came the Princess contingent from Mickey's Soundsational...

On the float this year are the ever popular Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, Pocahontas and Mulan.  It made sense they would highlight these particular characters who appear as part of the fabulous "Mickey and the Magical Map" show at the Fantasyland Theatre...

Next up was the Gingerbread Treat contingent of A Christmas Day Parade with a few changes this year.  First of all, poor Clarabelle Cow has been replaced by rather frightening articulate faced Chip 'n' Dale.  I absolutely love Chip 'n' Dale, but I find these particular guys not very cute... :(

Another change is that Max Goof has been replaced by Pluto...

After the Gingerbread contingent, out came the Winter Wonderland contingent led by Snowflakes on skates...

Winnie the Pooh and friends followed.  This year, they were joined by Rabbit and Piglet.  I wish, though, that Rabbit and Piglet also got scarves and other winter wear.  But, given that it's rare to see Piglet out at Disneyland, I was quite excited to see him!

Added to A Christmas Fantasy Parade are these Alpine Skiiers...

Next up came the Christmas Tree and the Snow People...

And, finally, the float in which Mickey and Minnie usually skate on in A Christmas Fantasy Parade now had Tinker Bell and the rest of the Pixie Hollow fairies onboard...

After the Pixie Hollow float passed by, they decided to film the Teen Beach Movie musical sequence.  Although, due to my location and not being able to see any of it...and the fact that my legs were cramping from sitting crossed legged on the ground for hours...I decided to leave.  But, before I did, I went to say hello to Sleeping Beauty Castle which still had the stage from the musical acts filmed the day before still in front of it...
