May 18, 2013 - Meeting Star Wars Characters at Star Wars Weekends!

I was so excited to go to Star Wars Weekends again once more!  We really didn't know how much time we'd have to go, but since most of the day was pretty much a free day, we decided to spend the bulk of the day there.  Yes, there was a part of me that would have liked to have gone to Disney's Animal Kingdom to see the animals or check out a little bit more of the New Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom, but I just couldn't be that close to Star Wars Weekends and not taken more advantage of it.  I figured that the animals and New Fantasyland will be there the next time I come, but I don't know when I'd be at Walt Disney World this close to Star Wars Weekends again!

The first thing we decided to do is go directly to the Streets of America where we knew several meet-and-greet areas were set up.  Our goal was to try to meet as many characters as we could that day.

The first meet-and-greet area we lined up for was the Jedi location.  It was there that we had an opportunity to meet Shaak-Ti and Mace Windu...

A Clone Trooper patrolled the streets...

Over at the Star Wars: The Clone Wars meet-and-greet area, we met Commander Cody...

...and later Captain Rex and Ahsoka Tano came to join him...

I had to get a photo with just Ahsoka Tano!

After the good guys left, the Dark Jedi Asajj Ventress came to threaten us...

Walking around a bit in the Streets of America, I spotted Kit Fisto...

We went over to Darth's Mall to see what the line was like and, thankfully, there was no line.

After shopping for a bit, I went to meet Luke Skywalker who was meeting nearby.  I actually wanted to get a picture with C-3PO and R2-D2 again because my camera crapped out during the "May The Force Be With You" event we had and all my photos with them were super blurry.  But, no complaints meeting Luke again! :)

Near Luke was the Rancor Beast!

We later went back to the Streets of America to see who else was meeting at the Jedi area.  We saw Anakin Skywalker, but we didn't end up getting in line since it was long and we wanted to make sure we could hit the other meet-and-greet areas...

Since Chip 'n' Dale's line was relatively short and since we love Chip 'n' Dale AND Ewoks, we decided to say hello to them again as Ewoks...

Nearby, Wicket, a real Ewok, was meeting.

Again, I would have loved to have gone to meet him as my only photos with Wicket during the "May The Force Be With You" event were extremely blurry.  But, his line was extremely long and there were no guarantees that he'd be there once we got up there.

Since we hadn't been over to the "Dark Side" meet-and-greet areas near the Backlot Tour and Pixar Place yet, we headed over there.  Aurra Sing, the Bounty Hunter, was lurking nearby...

...as well as the bounty hunter Zam Wesell...

...and while I managed to escape those bounty hunters, unfortunately, Jango Fett finally captured me.  I hope I don't end up in Carbonite!

Thankfully, I managed to escape him.  Don't ask me how.  LOL!

Nearby, a Gamorrean Guard patrolled...

...and a Tusken Raider party pillaged...

What the heck am I doing in this photo?  Also, I learned that Tusken Raiders are NOT from Tuscany... :)

Finally, we got to meet Greedo who was a very rare character to be out.  We were thankfully lucky enough to meet him!

Some thoughts about meeting characters at Star Wars Weekends...

The meet-and-greet locations were very organized and, for the most part, nicely themed.  I had no problems with those locations, despite the huge lines.  At least you knew what to expect.

With the roaming characters, it was fun to see them walking around in character.  The picture above of Zam Wesell threatening a baby was priceless.  But, at the same time, it could be absolute bedlam.  People surround the characters from all places and it gives me such anxiety to leap in.  Also, your photos are up against things that take you out of the Star Wars experience.

And, just for the record, there was a moment where one of the characters (I won't say who) completely ignored one of my friend's requests to take a picture with them.  There's one thing to be in character and another to be absolutely rude.  It shook us up a bit and almost ruined our day.

In the end, for me, that was eleven new characters I had met that day!  And, with the exception of the one run in with the certain character, it was an absolutely wonderful day of character hunting through the galaxy!  Does that make me a bounty hunter?
