The Splendor of Pangani Forest Exploration Trail and Maharajah Jungle Trek

I found this article from The Main Street Gazette which talks about the splendor of the exploration trails at Disney's Animal Kingdom. I found myself loving both the Maharajah Jungle Trek in the Asia section and the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail in the African section...probably even moreso than the Kilamanjaro Safaris itself. Now, don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the Kilamanjaro Safaris. But, there's something about being able to explore at your leisure that makes the experience even more magical. And, at Disney's Animal Kingdom, its not like you're just walking around a zoo. The experience is so immersive that you actually feel like you are in the middle of some exotic location just happening upon some of these majestic animals.

I was impressed to learn that Disney's Animal Kingdom is the largest Disney Park in the world and that Walt Disney World devotes a third of its land to nature conservancy. I know that if I were an annual passholder at Walt Disney World, you'd be seeing me along these trails all the time.

These are just a few of the shots I took along both the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail and Maharajah Jungle Trek when I went in September.

  2. It was funny because, while the big animal along the Maharajah Jungle Trek were the Bengal Tigers, I couldn't get enough of the flying foxes. I had never seen anything like them so close up. They were huge and amazing to look at!
