Orlando Sentinel (November 8, 2010) - Duffy the Disney Bear: Disney World hopes new character will be as successful in Orlando as in Japan
Honestly, when they first announced that they were going to be bringing Duffy the Disney Bear to the United States (well, really...back to the United States) in hopes that he would obtain the same kind of star quality he does at Tokyo Disneyland, I thought Disney was crazy. What works in Japan doesn't necessarily work here. I mean, I also believe that works at Walt Disney World also doesn't always work at Disneyland either. But, having gone to Disney California Adventure to meet the little guy and having seen some of the merchandise, I have to admit I'm beginning to fall in love with Duffy the Disney Bear. I mean, I don't think you'll see me running around with him in a stroller as I've heard people do in Japan. But, I would go to visit him and screamed "I love you, Duffy!" to him when he came by on the opening float of A Christmas Fantasy Parade for the recent Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade special taping. Heck, I'm even thinking about buying one of the bears. And, okay...I'll admit it. I've already bought the smaller magnetic clippy Duffy.
Sucker for a trend or has Duffy magic affected me?
